Carbondale Main Street’s Downtown Art and Wine Fair Fall 2012: Bringing the Wine Trail to the Town Square
Now in its fifth year, the Carbondale Main Street Downtown Art and Wine Fair will take place Saturday, October 19 from 3 p.m. to 9 p.m. in the Town Square.
Big Muddy Brewery will be present at the fair, as well as six different wineries, including Von Jakob, Alto Vineyards, and Rustle Hill Winery. Folks will be able to sample wines, drink by the glass, or purchase a bottle to take home.
Food will also be available from at least one vendor. But Carbondale Main Street executive director Meghan Cole reminds people of the great local establishments within walking distance of the fair.
“We really encourage people to go next door to the Longbranch or Global and grab a bite to eat,” Cole says.
There will also be music from Brad and Bri at 3 p.m., the Rural Kings and Ol’ Moose at 5 p.m., and the Kevin Lucas Orchestra at 7 p.m.
Green energy will power the stage on which the bands perform.
“While we do use some energy, all the bands are powered from [Advanced Energy Solutions’] solar trailer,” Cole says.
Advanced Energy Solutions will also have a booth at the fair.
The main highlight of the fair will be local artists and crafters, more than forty of which will be present this year.
Cole says the fair will include “everything from jewelry to people who craft wine accessories and wine holders out of wood. We have fabrics, we have mixed media, we have painters, so a lot of different art from artists as far away as Saint Louis.”
General admission is $8 for people who would like to sample or drink wine, and $2 for everyone else. The raindate is Sunday, October 7.
